Serenity: The Second War (a.k.a. Firefly Wars)
Emboldened by the Miranda scandal, the Independents begin to organize again and the weakened Parliament sees no choice but to launch a new offensive to
quell the rebellion. The Alliance flagship heads for the outer planets, carrying the cadre of brainwashed super-soldiers of which River was a member.
Simon devises a counteragent that will break the brainwashing, and Mal decides (over Zoe's and Inara's strenuous objections) that they have to sneak on
board the flagship to disable the super-soldiers and possibly sabotage the vessel. This plan fails, but River and Jayne work together to come up with
an emergency backup plan: blow up the flagship. It works.
Serenity: The Long Retreat (a.k.a. Firefly Galactica)
As the Alliance's offensive intensifies, an interstellar radio message comes in from Earth-that-was. It turns out that the planet was not fully
evacuated, but the Alliance had effectively suppressed this knowledge until now. The Independents band together and equip for a generations-long
return voyage to Sol, with elements of the Alliance military in hot pursuit. The crew of Serenity launch a daring sabotage mission, disabling their
pursuers and stealing an interstellar drive that shortens the voyage considerably.
